Well-Child Visits

Dr. Gomez will discuss safety, nutrition, and behavior related questions regarding your child’s care. Well child visits and immunizations are a very important part of maintaining your child’s health.  At these visits we look not only for signs of illness or disease, but also we want to make sure that your child’s development is proceeding normally. Dr. Gomez will be happy to answer all age related questions.

It is very important that you bring your child for his/her routine visits to guarantee appropriate quality of care. During these visits, Dr Gomez will check your child’s growth and development, she will give any vaccines that are due and your child will be tested for vision and hearing starting at age 3.

Recommended office visits start 3 to 5 days after your child has been born, 7-14 days after birth to do a newborn screen (PKU), and then at 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 24 months, 3 years old and every year after that. Make sure you schedule the appointments 1-2 months before your child’s birthday to avoid missing appointments.

Immunizations will be given accordingly to the age of your child. These vaccines will protect him or her against certain diseases. Many of these immunizations protect your child for life, and some vaccines are given in one shot or a series of shots. When possible, we will give your child vaccines that are combined together in one shot.

If you have your child’s immunization card, bring it with you to your child’s appointment, and Dr. Gomez and staff can make sure your child’s immunization records are up to date.

We highly recommend all children age 6 months and older to get a Flu vaccine every fall.

Other Services: You child will also get a complete quality of care exam, including diagnoses and treatment of common illnesses and injuries, sports physicals and preoperative examinations.

Dr. Gomez also gives prenatal consultations and breast-feeding support.
